Environment

Metro Mining cares for the environment and is committed to the highest levels of environmental protection and management throughout the planning, operation and rehabilitation of our mine sites.

At all of our project sites, we protect all areas of cultural significance and high conservation value - including wetlands, rivers and springs.

Our mines will operate under industry leading practice operational and environmental management plans, and all mined areas will be progressively and continuously rehabilitated to its pre-mining condition.

Notwithstanding this, Metro Mining's proposed mine sites are located in open, dry Darwin Stringybark country - the most common vegetation in Cape York and northern Australia and which is characterized by low nutrient soils and low biodiversity and is classified as 'not of concern' by the Queensland Government.
